Training
/ Drill On the first & second Monday's of each month we meet for training / drill. Training is conducted either by an outside instructor or in-house training officers. These sessions usually last between 2 and 3 hours and have proven to be very beneficial in keeping dept. members familiar with equipment and operations on scenes. In addition to monthly training sessions, we also conduct larger more involved training sessions, several times throughout the year. These sessions are usually held over a weekend and many times involve neighboring departments as well. Involving neighboring departments from time to time helps when these departments work together on mutual aid calls during the year. This also provides a broader range of ideas for solving problems that arise during the training, and different methods of operation between the departments which will help when it is necessary for the departments to interact on a real scene. Once a year the department holds a course through the State Fire Academy's outreach program. It is held at the station, and is either one or two days over the weekend. These trainings are extremely beneficial to keeping in touch with modern firefighting practices. Allthough the cost of these trainings is more than local level training, they are very good and well worth the expense. Other trainings that are offered in the area that our members attend are the NOVFA sponsered fire school in Bowling Green, Oh, which is provided through the Ohio Fire Academy. This is a two day school which offers many of the classes offered at the Academy. Also a one day Tri-County fire school is offered once a year.
